Professionals In Residence

The Professional in Residence Program (PIR) provides professionals from many different fields the opportunity to learn about the disease of addiction and the Betty Ford Center's method of recovery. Police officers, probation officers, lawyers, psychiatrists, teachers, administrators of schools, CEO's of various organizations, and counseling students – to name a few – have all attended the PIR Program. These professionals spend a week with patients and family members in order to gain a deeper understanding of the chronic nature of addiction and the life-time role recovery plays in their lives. Because of the new knowledge and understanding these professionals gain from their PIR experience they have a deeper understanding of the disease and how to direct the addict towards finding a solution.
